Rosalie Jane Rosenogle, 91, of Wawaka passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 4:40 p.m. in Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville. A life-long resident of Noble County, her life centered around loving and caring for people - her mom, brothers and sisters, husband John, and her children.
She was born January 21, 1925, in Elkhart Township, Noble County to Edward and Wilma (Stoner) Gangwer.
On August 19, 1943, she married John W. Rosenogle in the Brethren Church of Wawaka and they resided on their farm for over 70 years before moving to Lutheran Life Villages. Rosalie graduated from Wawaka High School. She was a member of the Kimmell United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities and taught children's Sunday School for 45 years. She loved education and business and was an avid reader. She was instrumental in organizing many family trips and seeing that her girls all graduated from college.
Rosalie was a hard-working farmer's wife and a supervisor for the Noble County Dairy Herd Improvement Association along with John for 38 years. After retiring, she and John were custodians for Community State Bank until 2005. In their 72 years of marriage, they were privileged and honored to be friends of many Noble County families and their children.
Surviving are a three daughters, Rita (Jim) Coats of Albion, Bernita (Mike) Smith of Wawaka, and Dorothy (Richard) Bauman of Kendallville; a granddaughter, Rebecca (Chris) Gonzalez of Albion; four grandsons, Andrew (Vicki) Coats of Wawaka, Alvin (Cheryl) Bauman of Medora, John (Ashton) Bauman and Jerry (Leah) Bauman of Kendallville; nine great-grandchildren, Sierra Gonzalez, Christina, Isaac, and Jacob Coats, Cora Bauman, Hunter and Grady Donley, Lana Bauman and Brett Bauman; one sister, Margaret Morrison of Kissimmee, Florida, and two sisters-in-law, Berneta Gangwer of Avilla and Dorothy Gangwer of Goshen.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John on April 28, 2016; a son, Jerry Allen Rosenogle; five sisters, Lois Wert, Dorothy Deck, Vada Vaughn, Grace Honeywell, and Mildred Klemm; and five brothers, Stanley, Dean, Bill, Paul and Don Gangwer.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at 2 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Chaplain Mike Wakeland officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier.
