Ronnie W. Harlan, 70, of Wolcottville died Sunday, July 30, 2017, in his residence.
He was born August 3, 1946, in the Luckey Hospital in Wolf Lake to Lee J. and Gladis (Cole) Harlan.
Mr. Harlan served in the U.S. Marine Corps from February 1, 1966 to April 30, 1968. While serving in Vietnam, he received three Purple Hearts.
On June 1, 1968, in Brimfield he married Norma Everhart.
He had worked at Essex in Ligonier and was an auto mechanic at Bob Porter Chevrolet in Ligonier. He was medically retired from the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a member of Rome City American Legion Post 381.
Surviving are his wife, Norma Harlan of Wolcottville; a daughter, Ronda K. (Jay) Johnston of Wolcottville; two sons, Jake (Tina) Harlan of Millersburg and Gene (Rhonda) Harlan of Ligonier; 13 grandchildren, Chris (Brittney) Johnston, Robert (Kaylee) Johnston, Zachery Johnston, Blaine Harlan, Beatrice Harlan, Gavin Harlan, Brittany (Ben) Brubaker, Amanda (Mike) Stevenson, Tori (Brandon) Fox, Matt Lange, Amber Lange, Jenna Harlan, and Lexi Hammond; nine great-grandchildren, Jacyn Johnston, Blakelynn Johnston, McKynlee Fox, Jonah Fox, Carsyn Stevenson, Camden Brubaker, Cooper Brubaker, Kaylie Brubaker, and Jasmin Brubaker; his stepmother, Francis Harlan of Albion; a sister, Lana Bradley of Ligonier; and two brothers, Mike Harlan of Wawaka and Bill Harlan of Wawaka.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Carol Becker and Terry Pippenger.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 3, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Pastor Tony Baker of Gateway Church in Angola officiating. Burial will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
Honor guard services will be provided by Rome City American Legion Post 381, Kendallville VFW Post 2749, and active duty members of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Calling will be Wednesday, August 2, 2017, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to Parkview Noble Hospice.
