Ronald G. Ungerer, 62, of Avilla died unexpectedly Friday, May 20, 2011, at 10:23 p.m. in his residence.

He was President of R&D Wire which started in June, 1990, in LaOtto.

Ron enjoyed gardening, camping, and was an avid NASCAR fan, but he most enjoyed spending time with family and his grandchildren.

He was born February 4, 1949, in Fort Wayne, to Raymond and Violet (Kiser) Ungerer. On February 12, 1972, in Bryan, Ohio, he married Karen L. Parson.

Surviving are his wife, Karen L. Ungerer of Avilla; two daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Adam Young of Millersburg and Jaime and John Hamman of Hudson; six grandchildren, Leanne Young, Carl Young, Sarah Young, Mariah Hamman, Derek Hamman, and Andrew Hamman; his father, Raymond Ungerer of Fort Wayne; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Carey Ungerer of Churubusco and Ed and Judy Ungerer of Auburn; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo and Joan Herman of Bryan, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Cathy and Ron Fovargue of Edmond, Oklahoma and Nancy and Brent Davis of New Hudson, Michigan; a brother-in-law, Richard and Lisa Parson of Bay City, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Violet Ungerer on July 1, 2010, and a daughter, Brenda Ungerer.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 26, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Huntertown United Methodist Church, 16021 Lima Road, Huntertown, with Pastor Greg Hiatt officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Brent Davis, Ron Fovargue, Richard Parson, Adam Young, John Hamman, and Steve Prezbindowski.

Calling is Wednesday, May 25, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Preferred memorials are to the Huntertown United Methodist Church.
