Ronald "Ron" Lee Mobley, 77, of LaGrange, Indiana died Friday, July 24, 2026, at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn.

He was born February 14, 1949, in LaGrange to Virgil “Joe” and Doris (Lytle) Mobley.

On March 18, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nevada, he married Connie Yoder.

Ron Mobley honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In recognition of his extraordinary courage, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for valor. During a reconnaissance mission, his company came under intense enemy fire when an armored personnel carrier was struck, leaving several soldiers wounded. With complete disregard for his own safety, Specialist Mobley courageously exposed himself to heavy enemy fire to reach and assist the injured. His heroic actions contributed immeasurably to saving the lives of many of his fellow soldiers and reflected the highest ideals of military service.

Following his military service, Ron worked as a truck driver and, together with his wife, Connie, proudly owned and operated The Gathering Place restaurant in Howe. He enjoyed spending time fishing, playing pool, and golfing. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan. Above all, Ron had a generous heart and a special love for children of all ages, especially his cherished grandchildren. He will be remembered for his bravery, kindness, hard work, and the lasting impact he made on the lives of those who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his wife, Connie Mobley of LaGrange; two daughters, Cheryl (Randy Stephenson) Combs of Sturgis, Michigan and Brenda (Jeff) Wanamaker of Sturgis, Michigan; a stepdaughter, Kelley (Eric) Menza of Wallace, Michigan; and two stepsons, Jason (Rachel) Gronmark of Thornton, Colorado and Matthew (Bea) Gronmark of New York; seven grandchildren, Dustynn Mobley, Jayce Mobley, Madisyn (Jacob) Warner, Alyssa Combs, Rylee Wanamaker, Lilliana Menza, and Soren Menza; two great-grandchildren with another on the way; and two brothers, Jeffrey Mobley of Howe and Gregory (Debra) Mobley of Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, infant, Michael Mobley and Steven Mobley.

A celebration of life visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.

Following the visitation, a funeral procession will travel to Ontario Cemetery, where a military graveside service, officiated by Doug Yoder, will be held.
