Ronald L. Keister, 79, of Wolcottville passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 5:25 a.m. in Kendallville Manor Nursing and Rehab in Kendallville.
He was born October 25, 1937, in Albion to Dale and Velma (Traster) Keister.
Ron proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On December 3, 1955, in Albion, he married Ardith L. King.
Mr. Keister worked at American Hoist and Derrick in Fort Wayne until it closed. He then became a machinist and retired in 2004 from Baseline Tool & Die in Wawaka.
Surviving are his wife, Ardith L. Keister of Wolcottville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Pamela (Reeves) Keister of Kendallville and Jake Keister of Wolcottville; a granddaughter, Stephanie and Justin Dowe of Whitestown; a great-granddaughter, Finley Dowe; and three sisters, Linda Keck of Kendallville, Nancy Belcher of Albion, and Jane Keister of Albion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Christopher Knox.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at 10 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Rev. James Tews of Messiah Lutheran Church in Wolcottville officiating. Burial will be in Sweet Cemetery.
Military graveside services will be provided by Rome City American Legion Post 341, Kendallville VFW Post 2749, Kendallville American Legion Post 86, and active duty members of the U.S. Army.
Calling is Monday, July 10, 2017, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
