Obituary

Roland John Raper, 70, of Kendallville and formerly of Wawaka died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at 7:05 a.m. in his residence.

Mr. Raper retired as a machinist from Hy-Matic Manufacturing in Kendallville. He had served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of VFW Post 2749, American Legion Post 86, and the Kendallville Eagles Lodge.

He was born January 2, 1940, in Holyoke, Massachusetts.

Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Ann Raper; a son, Danny Raper; a stepdaughter, Vicky Smith of Kendallville; four step grandchildren; and one step great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Raper, a son, Jeff Raper, and his brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be Monday, April 26, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the Marion National Cemetery, Marion, with military services provided by the VFW Post in Marion.

Calling will be Monday, April 26, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.

Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society.
