Obituary

Roland Lower, 64 of rural Wolcottville died Thursday, September 13, 2007, at 6:20 P.M. at his residence. Mr. Lower was a lifetime LaGrange County resident, living in the Pretty Lake area since 1969. He was the owner of Lower Insulation. He also worked at one time at Miller's Super Value in LaGrange as a meat cutter. He previously owned Home Market in Howe, Indiana and was a former owner of Pretty Lake Beach from 1969 to 1981. Mr. Lower aslo enjoyed mushroom hunting.

Roland was born August 17, 1943, in Sturgis, Michigan to Justin "Bud" & Caroline (Gilberth) Lower. He married Alice Feller on November 5, 1961 in Valentine, Indiana. She survives in Wolcottville.

Also surviving are two daughters, Shellie & Roedonald Polly, and Kellie & Douglas Stewart all of Kendallville; three sons, Robert Lower of Howe, Eric & Teia Lower of Wolcottville, and Derek & Cindi Lower of Pleasant Lake. Eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Polly, Mike Polly, Brianne Case, Traci Walkup, Kristin Stewart, Micky Stewart all of Kendallville, Justin Lower of Pleasant Lake and Danyiel Lower of Texas; and five great grandchildren with a sixth on the way. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy M. Boocher, and Vera Shew; one brother Lee D. Lower; and one grandson Matthew R. Hausbach on July 4, 2005.

Services will be Tuesday, September 18 at 12:00 Noon at Young Family Funeral Home, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Ergle Calhoun officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Wolcottville. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, September 17 at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis.
