Roberta was born November 5, 1930, in Steuben County to Mabel R. (Chamberlain) Eckhart and Lloyd E. Eckhart. When she was 6 years old she moved to Noble County where she spent the rest of her life.
Roberta graduated from Rome City High School in the spring of 1948, Valedictorian of her class.
In the fall of 1948, she enrolled in Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana seeking a bachelor's degree in art education. As a sophomore, she pledged Alpha Delta Pi, a national sorority, and served as the treasurer of the house her senior year. She earned her degree in the spring of 1952 and returned home to Noble County.
Roberta married John R. Frick on June 21, 1953, in Trinity Church United Methodist in Kendallville and soon thereafter, settled in their newly built home near Rome City.
In the 70's, Roberta and John started a motorcycle and snowmobile business. Upon John's passing in 1980, she had to close the business.
Roberta's passion was teaching art. She taught art at Noble County Schools, including both high schools in Wolcottville and Rome City. When those schools consolidated, she stayed in Rome City teaching elementary students till her retirement in 1992 - 38 years total.
Her other passion was Indiana HOOSIER sports, especially football and basketball.
Roberta loved to travel and completed many trips throughout the US, Europe, and Africa including a safari to Kenya in 2000. Her last big trip in 2018 was a Venice cruise that also included a stop in Athens Greece where she climbed all 200 steps to the Acropolis - quite the feat at 88 years old.
Roberta is survived by Nieces Shirley Wonders, Judy Saltz, JoAnn Chapman, and Jackie Sparks; Nephews Richard Becker, Warren Poage, John Frick, and Larry Chapman; great nephew Scott Saltz; God sons Todd Walker and John Dixon.
