Obituary

Robert Lee Trowbridge, 84, of Ligonier died Friday, November 10, 2017, from the results of a traffic accident west of Topeka.

He was born November 14, 1932, in Orange Township, Noble County to Bert and Hazel (Acker) Trowbridge.

On April 21, 1956, in Angola he married Mary Ellen Johnston. She preceded him in death on July 5, 2016.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War.

Mr. Trowbridge was a truck driver. He was a member of Kendallville VFW Post 2749 and Ligonier American Legion Post 243.

Surviving are two daughters, Bobbie (Randy) Chidister of South Bend and Linda (Jim) Sedlacek of Elkhart; two sons, Dale Trowbridge of Ligonier and Joseph (Judy) Trowbridge of Albion; eight grandchildren, Casey Slone, Ashley Slone, Justin Ray, Heather Smith, Jennifer Levens, Shaun Trowbridge, Eithan Trowbridge, and Christopher Trowbridge; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Emma Linville-Slessman of Kendallville and Gloria (Bob) Lash of Huntertown; and two brothers, Walter (Patricia) Trowbridge of Kendallville and Duane (Sheryl) Trowbridge of Leo.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Trowbridge, Jr. and a brother, Lowell Trowbridge.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Mark Wood officiating. Burial will be in Sweet Cemetery.

Honor guard services will be provided by Kendallville VFW Post 2749, Rome City American Legion Post 381, Kendallville American Legion Post 86, Ligonier American Legion Post 243, and active duty members of the U.S. Army.

Pallbearers will be Shaun Trowbridge, Christopher Trowbridge, Casey Slone, Gage Paulus, Shaw Smith, and Jason Smith.

Calling is Tuesday, November 14, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the West Noble American Legion Post 243.
