Obituary

Robert P. Rowe, 89, of Winter Haven, Florida, and formerly of Wolcottville, died Monday, January 24, 2011, in the Good Shepherd Hospice Resident Center, Auburndale, Florida.

He was an over the road truck driver for Ringle Express with over 1,250,000 safe miles recorded. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Winter Haven, where he sang in the choir for several years. He was also a member of the Cypress Gardens Lions Club in Winter Haven. He was a former member of the Wolcottville Lions Club.

Robert was born in a log cabin April 22, 1921 in Valentine, Indiana, to Walter G. and Grace (Matthews) Rowe. He moved to Winter Haven, Florida, in 1996.

On October 3, 1942, he married June E. Keck. She preceded him in death on July 7, 2003.

Surviving are a daughter, Judy Rowe of Winter Haven; and two brothers, Glenn Rowe of Kendallville and Jean Rowe of Winter Haven.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Rowe.

A graveside service will be Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Woodruff Cemetery with Pastor Jack Thomas of the Wolcottville United Methodist Church officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Wolcottville United Methodist Church, 107 West County Line Road, Wolcottville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Cypress Gardens Lions Club, P.O. Box 941, Winter Haven, FL 33882-0941. Mark on it that it is for the Diabetes Testing Program in memory of Lion Robert Rowe.
