Robert Ray "Rob" Kimmel, 51, of Avilla passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne with his family by his side.
He was born July 24, 1966, in Hartford City to Robert and Mikkie Kimmel. They survive in Avilla.
He attended West Noble School and graduated from Beacon Baptist School, Kendallville in 1984. He joined the U.S. Army and served from 1985 to 1988, receiving several medals and awards.
Mr. Kimmel was employed by Forest River Manufacturing in Topeka.
Rob enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, as he was so proud of them. He loved to ride his Harley motorcycle and was always busy helping others. He was very handy and could fix anything.
Also surviving are two daughters, Bethany (Brock) Fletcher of Chesterton and Brittany Blackburn of Plymouth; three grandsons, Jason Blackburn, Seth Fletcher, and Silas Fletcher; a brother, Matthew (Amanda) Kimmel of Leesburg, Florida; a sister, Sonya (Hashem) Al-Quran of Avilla; four nephews, Justin Al-Quran, Jordan Al-Quran, Mason Kimmel, and Marcus Kimmel; a niece, Janae Al-Quran; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Adrianne Kristin Kimmel.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 12, 2018, at 12 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Brother Perry Spaulding officiating. Burial will be in Swan Cemetery.
Honor guard services will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard and active duty members of the U.S. Army.
Calling is Thursday, July 12, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to his three grandson's college fund. Checks may be written to Bob or Mikkie Kimmel.
