Rickey G. Ritchie, 72, of Rome City, Indiana died Saturday, May 11, 2024, surrounded by his family at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

He was born on June 25, 1951, in Hazard, Kentucky to Arnold and Bethel (Ritchie) Ritchie.

Rickey retired from Silgan Plastics in Ligonier after 45 years with the company.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching Westerns, tinkering, mechanic work, and helping his friends and family. He loved going to breakfast and socializing in the mornings at Maria's in Kendallville.

Surviving are a daughter, Heather Marquez of Ligonier; three grandchildren, Harrison Newman of Ligonier, Jesse (Haley) Newman of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Seth Lucero of Ligonier; three siblings, Garland Ritchie of Hazard, Kentucky, Patricia (Basil) Pierce of Wolcottville, and Debbie (Leslie) Shepherd of Hazard, Kentucky; an uncle, Mike Ritchie of Rome City; his former wife, Patricia Armstrong of Ligonier; and his lifelong friend, Laura Bostick of LaGrange.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Alexander Newman.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Five Corners Baptist Church, 2995 E 600 S, Wolcottville, with Pastor Jim Snyder officiating.

Pallbearers will be Harrison Newman, Jesse Newman, Seth Lucero, Shawn Pierce, Alex Crum, John Ritchie, Aaron Sizemore, and Matt Roberts.

Burial will follow in Brushy Chapel Cemetery near LaGrange.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday also at the church.

Preferred memorials are to the family.
