Service: Saturday, March 1, 2014 - 11 a.m. in the True Church of God at Lisbon

Calling: Friday, February 28, 2014 - 6 to 9 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church **************************************************************************************** Richard Wallen, 78, of Avilla died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, in Sacred Heart Home, Avilla.

He had lived in this area most of his life.

Mr. Wallen retired from Cooper Auto in Avilla. Prior to that he worked in construction for 15 years and also worked at McCray Refrigeration in Kendallville.

He was born April 18, 1935, in Knott County, Kentucky, to Lawrence and Edna (Sparkman) Wallen.

Surviving are a daughter, Sherry Wallen of Kendallville; four sons, Rick (Barb) Wallen of Wolcottville, Harold (Jill) Wallen of Kendallville, Ron (Tonya) Wallen of Rome City, and Christopher Wallen of Kendallville; the mother of his children, Geneva Wallen of Kendallville; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; his mother, Edna Osborn of Kendallville; three sisters, Wanda Pearson of Rome City, Lora (Larry) Kurtz of Orland, and Connie (Larry) Wohrnock of Markle; two brothers, Ronnie (Shirley) Wallen of Kendallville and Donald Ray (Tatti) McDaniel of North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his father; an infant daughter, Juanita Wallen; and a great-grandson, Colt'n Wallen.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the True Church of God at Lisbon with Pastor Worley Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.

Honorary pallbearers are Rick Wallen, Ronnie Wallen, Deanna Wallen, Sherry Wallen, Joshua Wallen, Harold Wallen, Jr., Tonya Wolfe, Zachary Wallen, and Geneva Wallen. Active pallbearers are Ron Wallen, Chris Wallen, Donald Ray McDaniel, Hunter Delarosa, Harold Wallen, and Austin Wolfe.

Calling is Friday, February 28, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
