Richard Scott Swagart, 64, of LaGrange, Indiana, and formerly of Fort Wayne, Indiana, died unexpectedly Sunday, February 16, 2025, at his residence.

He was born on Labor Day, September 1, 1960, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Richard A. Swagart and Virginia (Hobbs) Swagart-Nutt.

Scott graduated from South Side High School in Fort Wayne in 1979.

He was employed by Tru-Green, Fed Ex, and retired from Vera Bradley in 2019

Scott enjoyed watching sports on television. He bowled, and played softball and golf in his younger days. He had an extensive collection of baseball cards, which was a hobby he pursued.

In 1980, Scott married Michelle Huguenard and they divorced in 1988. He then married Cynthia Winfree in 1990 and she preceded him in death in 2002. In 2006, he married Kimberly Walker and she preceded him in death in 2018.

Surviving are his mother, Virginia Swagart-Nutt; sister and brother-in-law, Delores and James Blake; daughter, Jillian Swagart; stepdaughter, Crystal Winfree; grandchildren, Josh Van Gorder and Jenna Van Gorder; step grandchildren, Alisha (Dre Morris) Winfree and SaVana Winfree; step great-grandchildren, Amanah Winfree-Morris and DaiQuinn Morris; many nieces and nephews; and the mother of his daughter, Michelle Swagart.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Swagart.

There will be no visitation or services.
