Richard G. "Dick" Schaefer, 83, of Blackman Lake, Wolcottville, Indiana died Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at his residence.

He was born January 15, 1941, in Valley City, Ohio to Earl and Carol (Bernard) Schaefer.

In 1961, he married Marilyn Millon in Goetzville, Michigan.

He retired from International Harvester in Fort Wayne as an engineer.

Dick was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Rome City.

He was an avid outdoorsman. After retirement, he enjoyed donating his time to various people and organizations. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Marilyn Schaefer of Blackman Lake; a daughter, Janet Moore of Fort Wayne; two sons, Rick Schaefer of Big Long Lake; and Douglas (Kim) Schaefer of Blackman Lake; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia (John) Carlin of Florida and a brother, John "Jack" (Cortney) Schaefer of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Schaefer and a son-in-law, Jeff Moore.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Gaspar Catholic Church, 10871 North State Road 9, Rome City, with Father Louis Fowoyo officiating.

Visitation will be Monday, March 18, 2024, from 2 to 6 p.m. with a rosary service at 5:30 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.

Preferred memorials are to Parkview Noble Home Health and Hospice or to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
