Richard S. Keck, Sr., 81, of Wolcottville died Thursday, October 11, 2012, in the I.U. Medical Center, Indianapolis.
He was a lifetime area resident. He retired in 1994 after 20 years with Dometic in LaGrange.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Mr. Keck was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and a 50-year member of the LaGrange American Legion Post 215.
He was born July 17, 1931, in Noble County to Ralph Keck, Sr. and Ruth (Walburn) Keck. On April 11, 1969, in Clintwood, Virginia, he married Barbara Ann Lazar. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2004.
Surviving are four daughters, Sonya "Missy" (James) Sykes of Wolcottville, Judy (Phil) Burlew of Mongo, Dianna Smith of Washington, and Ramona (Jerry) Hunter of Kendallville; two sons, Gary Edward (Sandy) Keck of Orland and Richard S. (Sherry) Keck, Jr. of Wolcottville. two nieces he raised, Terri Stogner of North Carolina and Shelia (Paul, Jr.) Randol of Wolcottville; two nephews he raised, Walter (Brenda) Stogner of Ohio and Steve Evans of LaGrange; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis (Bill) Vanderpool of Wolcottville and Helen Baird of Kendallville; and three brothers, Jay (Linda) Keck of Wolcottville, Wayne Keck of Wolcottville, and Larry (Nell) Keck of Kentucky.
He was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Derek Sheldon Keck and Gary E. "Eddie" Keck, Jr.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Rev. James Tews officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.
Military graveside services will be provided by the LaGrange American Legion Post 215 and active duty members of the U.S. Air Force.
Calling is Monday, October 15, 2012, from 3 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the Messiah Lutheran Church Building Fund.
