Obituary

Richard A. "Rick" Hossinger, 81, of Story Lake near Ashley died Friday, September 3, 2021, at Parkview DeKalb Hospital in Auburn.

He was born July 8, 1940, in Kendallville to Lester Y. and Jenevie D. (Muesing) Hossinger.

Mr. Hossinger honorably served in the U.S. Army.

He retired as a truck driver for Klink's Trucking in Ashley.

Rick enjoyed golfing, fishing, flying remote control airplanes, and plowing snow. Grinding out tree stumps earned him the nickname "Stumper".

Surviving are a son, Leslie (Laurie) Hossinger of Fort Wayne; a stepson, Gary (Denise) Warstler of Houston, Texas; and a stepdaughter, Judy (Brent) Middleton of Fort Wayne; ten grandchildren, Ricky Hossinger, Cassandra "Cassie" Hossinger, Nicholas Hossinger, Megan Hossinger, Stefany Middleton, Keatton Middleton, Adam Middleton, Andy Warstler, Aaron Warstler, and Alyssa Warstler; six great-grandchildren; and a niece, Debbie Hart of North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his companion of 44 years, Gisela Warstler; and a sister, Danenne Boyce.

A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Hudson-Ashley Chapel, 612 North Main Street, Hudson.

Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville at a later date.

Preferred memorials may be directed to the funeral home for funeral expenses.
