Richard Wayne "Dick" Curtis, 88, of Rome City passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 6, 2017.
He resided at Sylvan Lake for 36 years, coming from Fort Wayne. He and his wife enjoyed wintering in Arizona.
Dick retired as a glass blower of 40 years from Fort Wayne ITT, and was an active member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Rome City.
He was born June 3, 1929, in Fort Wayne to Wayne and Mildred (Eber) Curtis.
On November 25, 1950, he married his childhood sweetheart Rita Marie Klingenberger who preceded him in death.
Dick always supported his five daughters, Kathryn (Lee) Cochard of Auburn, Patricia (Dennis) Baumgartner of Fort Wayne, Jacqueline (Gail) Cole of Muskegon, Michigan, Lisa Robertson of Copley, Ohio, and Joie Curtis of Indianapolis. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sally Gesell of Fort Wayne; and a brother, Michael (Susan) Curtis of Albion.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Curtis; a brother, Donald Curtis; a son-in-law, Michael Robertson; and a granddaughter, Judith Cochard.
Calling is Sunday, November 12, 2017, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with a Rosary service at 5 p.m. Calling will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 13, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Gaspar Catholic Church, Rome City with Father Bernard Ramenaden officiating. Burial will be in St. Gaspar Catholic Cemetery. Preferred memorials are mass offerings, St. Gaspar Catholic Church, Heart to Heart Hospice, or Alzheimer's Association.
