Obituary

On Sunday, July 19, 2026, our beloved mother, Reva Boggs Owens, 89, of Kendallville, Indiana peacefully entered Heaven. We find comfort in knowing she was reunited with the love of her life, our father, and welcomed with open arms by our brother and nephew. Though our hearts are broken by her absence, we take solace in knowing she is surrounded by those she dearly missed.

She was born October 1, 1936, in Hindman, Kentucky to Graydon and Susie (Campbell) Boggs.

On February 4, 1962, in Stroh, she married Alden Owens. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2010.

She had worked at Nisco in Topeka as an inspector, and Lyall Electric in Wolcottville.

Reva found great joy in working in her garden, attending church, and spending time with family and friends. Her greatest happiness came from her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, and she treasured every moment they shared together.

Surviving are four daughters, Alda Nissen of Wolcottville, Rita Howell of Kendallville, Teresa (Robert) Belleville of Wolcottville, and Terri Leedy of Angola; a son, Anthony Owens of LaGrange; 13 grandchildren, David (Amanda) Nissen, II, Kenneth (Caiti) Barden, Jr., Kayla Barden, Amanda (Luke) Miller, Hunter (Ali) Sams, Chase (Angelica) Owens, Logan Owens, Paige Owens, Rodney Owens, Jr., Maecee Owens, Brandon (Kenzie) Martin, Britany Martin, and Kamden Leedy; 27 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Gracie Combs of Hazard, Kentucky and Nellie Higginbotham of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rodney Owens; a grandson, Tyler Owens; a son-in-law, David Nissen; two sisters, Orkie Terry and Ila Pelfrey; and four brothers, Lester Boggs, Ballard Boggs, Olvin Boggs, and Marlin Boggs.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.

Funeral services will also be on Wednesday, beginning at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Chaplain Pete Menegello.

Burial will follow at Orange Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Anthony Owens, David Nissen, II, Kenneth Barden, Jr., Hunter Sams, Chase Owens, Logan Owens, Rodney Owens, Jr., Brandon Martin, and Kamden Leedy.
