Rayna Jean Herron, 65, of Rome City, Indiana, died Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at her home. She was born June 10, 1956, in Bluffton, Indiana, to William Bales and Dixie I. (Betz) Merriman. They preceded her in death. On September 4, 2010, she married Jimmy Herron. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2018. She was a CNA and worked as a home health caregiver. Rayna devoted her life to her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and family. She loved spending all her time with her grandchildren and her beloved dogs, Lucy and Chewy. She enjoyed crocheting and making things for those she loved. She also enjoyed being outdoors and camping. Some of her most favorite moments were singing with Brantlyn and Case, her great-grandsons, and her family. Surviving are a daughter, Jennifer Ann (James) Dean of Kendallville; a stepdaughter, Jennifer (Johnny) Herron of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren, including Jaimie (Ryan) Leighty of Rome City and Mellisa (Jamie) Shirks of Butler; 12 great-grandchildren, Alex, Trevor, Mason, C.J., Rhianna, Jazmin, Logan, Brantlyn, Case, Tiffany, Jeffrey, and Duckie; two great great-grandchildren, Addilyn and Madalyn; three sisters, Tamara (Terry, Sr.) Boothby of Decatur, Abby Rose of Kendallville, Donna Niblick of Kendallville; a brother, Jerry (Vicki) Bales of Rome City; a multitude of nieces and nephews; and a bonus mom to many. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Sue Grandlinard and Kimberly Robbins; and four brothers, James Bales, Randal Robbins, Arthur Harrison, and Kevin Bales. Visitation is Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 120 Weston Avenue, Kendallville, where a celebration of life service will be held at 4 p.m. Flowers may be sent to the Elks Lodge for delivery after 12 p.m. Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
