Racine Smith, 63, of Albion died Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at her residence with her family at her side.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She had been an area resident for 55 years, coming from Kentucky. She attended Five Corners Baptist Church in Wolcottville.

She was born September 20, 1945, in Mousie, Kentucky, to Virgil and Ellen (Green) Wicker. On September 23, 1961, in Lisbon, Indiana, she married Billy Smith, Sr.

Surviving are her husband, Billy Smith, Sr. of Albion; two daughters and sons-in-law, Stacy and Rick Gavin of Wawaka, and Selena and Daniel Hasselman of Wolcottville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Billy David and Sharon Smith of Rome City, Mark and Teresa Smith of Albion, and Jason P. and Heather Smith of Albion; 17 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and one brother, Virgil "Bud" Wicker of Kendallville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and two brothers.

Services will be Friday, February 15, 2008, at 10:30 am at the Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Brother Birtchel Mosley and Brother Clarence Combs officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, 2008, from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
