Obituary

Long time Kendallville business owner and attorney R. Stan Emerick, 86, of Syracuse died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at 7:25 am in Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Mr. Emerick was an attorney with Emerick & Diggins Law Firm since 1950 . He graduated from Wabash College and the University of Michigan, and proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a lifetime area resident. He served as the Kendallville city attorney for eight years, Noble County Attorney for four years, was part of the Noble County Bar Association and the Indiana State Bar Association. He served on the Kendallville Library Board for fifteen years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2749, American Legion Post 86 and Kendallville Elks Lodge, and a member of the Kendallville Eagles Lodge.

He was born June 26, 1921, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Rex S. & Clara L. (Lemmon) Emerick. On March 17, 1947 in Kendallville, he married Catherine B. "Katy" (Curie) Emerick she preceded him in death on September 26, 1987. On January 22, 2002 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL he married Norma J. (Hampshire) Lehman, she survives in Syracuse.

Also surviving is a son, Rex S. Emerick Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida; one grandson, Dustin Emerick of Jacksonville, Florida; a stepdaughter, Nola Farney of Garrett; and two stepsons, Bart Lehman of LaGrange and Herman Lehman of Kendallville.

Services will be Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. Robert Muller officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville. There will be no visitation. Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society or the Kendallville Public Library.
