Obituary

Phyllis J. Yoder, 90, of Kendallville died Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville.

She was born May 17, 1928, in Kendallville to George and Margaret (Hunter) Hoak.

On December 23, 1946, in Topeka she married Maurice Yoder. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Yoder worked in the family business. In her retirement, she worked part-time at Family Dollar in Kendallville.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kendallville and a former member of the Topeka Baptist Church.

Phyllis enjoyed knitting blankets to give to others, cooking for funeral dinners, sewing, and doing crafts. Working for her church was her greatest joy.

Surviving are a daughter, Jane (Danny) Whitaker of Osceola; a son, Michael (Linda) Yoder of Avilla; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth (Eldon) Sumpter of LaGrange.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 5, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Chaplain Ken Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Eden Cemetery near Topeka.

Pallbearers are Mike Yoder, Danny Whitaker, Tyler Pappas, and Jon Pyfer.

Calling is Friday, April 5, 2019, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
