Phyllis Evelyn Stair, 99, died, Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville.

She was born July 24, 1923, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Gerhard and Edna (Bremer) Fackler and lived in the city almost her entire life.

She married F. Wayne Stair, Jr., on March 2, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1989.

Prior to marriage, Phyllis worked at Lincoln Life. After her children were grown, she then worked as a secretary at Central Soya

She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church and later of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. She was an active member of Lutheran Health Services for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers; and a sister.

Survivors include sons, Gary (Theresa, deceased) of Fort Wayne, Robert (Lorna) of Portland, Texas, and David (Cindy) of Moneta, Virginia; daughter, Christi (Dr. John) Lutz of Westfield, Indiana; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be held at Concordia Cemetery Gardens in Fort Wayne with the Rev. Steve Ahlersmeyer of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne officiating.

In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials include St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN 46815 and Stillwater Hospice, 5910 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46814.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
