Obituary

Phyllis I. Ransbottom, 79, of Rome City died Monday, July 28, 2008, at 11:50 a.m. in the home of her daughter on Sylvan Lake.

Mrs. Ransbottom, a lifetime area resident, was a hairdresser in her own salon, The Oriental Beauty Parlor in Rome City for many years. She also worked as an aide at the Rome City Elementary School for ten years. She was a member of the Rome City United Methodist Church and volunteered at Parkview Noble Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, shopping, traveling, mushroom hunting, and baking special goodies for others.

She was born October 30, 1928, in Kendallville to Howard R. and Ethel Mae (Schauweker) Rimmel. On October 30, 1946, she married Lawrence E. Ransbottom, Sr. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1983.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Mike Antal of Rome City; two grandchildren, Michael and Heather Antal and Laurie and Chris Dafforn; four great grandchildren, Megan Rainey, Trevor Rainey, Victoria Antal, and Alexys Antal; and a brother, Al Rimmel of LaGrange.

She was preceded in death by her father, Howard R. Rimmel, her mother, Ethel Rimmel Henderson, and a son, Lawrence E. Ransbottom, Jr. in 1968.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 31, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at the Rome City United Methodist Church, with Rev. Michael McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery near Rome City.

Casketbearers will be Chad Leathers, Paul Leathers, Hal Schafer, Dan Beall, Mike Antal, Mark Donley, Chris Dafforn and John Pierce.

Calling is Wednesday, July 30, 2008, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville, and Thursday, July 31, 2008, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church.

Preferred memorials are to the Rome City United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 111, Rome City, Indiana, 46784.
