Phyllis E. Hufnagle, 87, of Kendallville, Indiana, died Monday, July 22, 2024, at her residence with her family at her side.
She was born March 16, 1937, in Sturgis, Michigan, to Elwood and Edith (McKenzie) Grove.
On September 23, 1978, in LaGrange she married Tony Hufnagle. He survives in Kendallville.
Mrs. Hufnagle was a homemaker and dearly loved taking care of her grandchildren while her children were at work. She was a member of the LaGrange Baptist Church.
Phyllis' greatest joy was her family. She devoted her life to her home and her family and prayed fervently for them.
Also surviving are four daughters, Talana (Randy) Rhodes of Syracuse, Cindy (Dennis) Waldron of Albion, Jackie (Mark) Buhler of Denham Springs, Louisiana, and Shawndra Baker of Kendallville; three sons, James Miller of Kendallville, Tony (Ruth) Hufnagle, Jr. of Elkhart, and Tim (Tabetha) Hufnagle of Mottville, Michigan; 31 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 11 great great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen (Steve) Leu of LaGrange; and a brother, Terry Grove of Kendallville.
She was preceded in death by a son, Tyler Hufnagle; a daughter, Tonya Weaver; a granddaughter, Lindsay Holler; and a great-grandson, Braxton Geiger; a sister, Beverly Cornett; and a brother, Phillip Grove.
Visitation will be Friday, July 26, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Crosspointe Family Church, 205 Highpointe Crossing, Kendallville.
The funeral service will be Friday, July 26, 2024, at 3 p.m. at the church with Pastor Rich Secor and Pastor Darren Tharp officiating.
Pallbearers are Matt Baker, Lucas Beiswanger, Jeremy Coburn, Jim Fox, Butch Trumble, Trenton Baker, and Payton Baker.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to granddaughter, Deybrean Yoder for her faithful, loving care of her grandmother for the last several months.
