Obituary

Phillip W. Ackerman, Sr., 71, of LaGrange died Sunday, August 30, 2009, at 6:54 p.m. in the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Mr. Ackerman had worked at Summit Plastics in Sturgis, Michigan. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1960 to 1964.

He was born May 18, 1938, in Kendallville to Edward and Florence (Coats) Ackerman. He was married to Mary Randol.

Surivivng are his wife, Mary Ackerman of LaGrange; two daughters, Dawn Ebert of Columbus, Ohio, and Debbie Ackerman of LaGrange; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Edwin Ackerman of LaGrange, Phil Ackerman Jr. and April Ackerman of LaGrange, and Bill and Candy Ackerman of Dunkirk; 14 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Diane Millum of Cadillac, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by a son, Edward Ackerman.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 3, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville, with Pastor Lee Combs of Community Bapitst Church, Wolcottville, officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Wolcottville.

Military honor guard services will be provided by American Legion Post 381, Rome City.

Calling is Wednesday, September 2, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
