Philip Ebey, 79, of Wolcottville died Friday, April 20, 2012, at 3:27 p.m. in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne where he had been a patient since March 26th.
Mr. Ebey had lived in this area since 1952, coming from Columbia City.
He had been a farmer, and retired after 32 years with Dometic in LaGrange as a service technician.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
He was born September 5, 1932, in Wolf Lake to Oscar and Gladys (Stewart) Ebey. On February 7, 1956, in Goshen he married Betty Havens. She survives in Wolcottville.
Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sheila Ebey of Kimmell; a daughter, Connie Kitchen of LaGrange; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Ottnel and Nyla Ebey of Witmer Lake; and two sisters, Mary Jane Dickinson of LaGrange and Margaret Murphy of Columbia City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Thelma Long and Marjorie Murphy; and a son-in-law, Rodney Kitchen.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville, with Pastor Jack Thomas of the Wolcottville United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery in Merriam.
Honor guard services will be provided by Rome City American Legion Post 381, Kendallville VFW Post 2749, and active duty members of the U.S. Army.
Calling is Monday, April 23, 2012, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
