Obituary

Philip Creech, 83, of Stroh died Friday, June 15, 2018 at 1:40 a.m., in Lutheran Life Village, Kendallville.

He was born February 14, 1935, in Knott County, Kentucky, to Isaac and Sarah (Collins) Creech.

Mr. Creech honorably served in the U.S. Army.

He married Essie (Terry) Messer, she preceded him in death March 23, 2016.

He had worked at the Steel Mills in Gary and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Winslow.

Surviving are a daughter, Sandy (Steve) Christian of Valparaiso; a son, Charles (Debbie) Creech of Valparaiso; six stepchildren, Nannie Sue Combs of Stroh, Cecil Messer of Stroh, Lonnie (Connie) Messer of Wolcottville, Jodie Messer of Angola, Phillip (Tina) Messer of Elkhart, and Berry Jane (Kevin) Thompson of Michigan; three grandchildren; 21 step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Eli Creech of Ohio.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Ellie Ritchie, Ollie Patrick, Molly Ritchie, Norah Roberts, and Ethel Ritchie; and five brothers, Norman Creech, Arvell Creech, Everett Creech, Carlos Creech, and Leonard Creech.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 18, 2018, at 2 p.m. in Mt. Calvary United Baptist Church in Stroh with Pastor Willie Collins officiating. Burial will be in Brushy Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Honor guard services will be provided by active duty members of the U.S. Army.

Calling is Monday, June 18, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
