Pauline Combs, 76, of Albion and formerly of Rome City died Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 11:01 p.m. in Northridge Village Nursing Home, Albion, where she had resided since February.
Mrs. Combs was a homemaker. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed her family, cooking, and flowers.
She was born December 10, 1931, in Perry County, Kentucky, to William and Stella (Hager) Lovelace. On December 26, 1950, in Hazard, Kentucky, she married Ernest Combs, Sr. He preceded her in death on May 8, 2005.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Yvonne Stackhouse of Fort Wayne and Deborah & Jerry Butler of Rome City; a son, Ernest Combs, Jr. of Danville, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Amy Terry of Kendallville, Ryan Fields of Kendallville, Tracey Morgan of Columbia City; Daniel Combs of San Diego, CA, Rebecca DeGroff of Kendallville, Jodi Butler of Rome City, and Phillip Combs of Danville; seven great grandchildren, Alicia Morgan, Madison Morgan, Lillian Fields, Julia Terry, Jade Terry, Lydia DeGroff, and Douglas DeGroff; three sisters, Maxine Fields of Kentucky, Anita Conway of Ohio, and Stella Jo Rice of Kentucky; and two brothers, Gene Lovelace of LaGrange, and Jay Lovelace of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Bill Lovelace and Mac Lovelace, and a grandson, James Hicks.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 7, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church in Lisbon with Elder Russell Hicks and Elder Morris Wicker officiating. Burial will be Orange Cemetery near Rome City.
Casketbearers will be Ernie Combs, Jr., Mike Terry, Jason Morgan, Phillip Combs, R.J. Combs, Coy Baldridge, and Ryan Fields.
Calling will be Sunday, July 6, 2008, after 4 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements are by Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.
