Paul A. Rupert, 80, of Rome City died Monday, November 23, 2020, at his residence.
He was born February 20, 1940, in Fort Wayne to Ralph John Rupert, Sr. and Ida Irene (Evans) Rupert.
On March 4, 1972, in Kendallville he married Ruth J. Cook. She preceded him in death on November 9, 2015.
Mr. Rupert retired from Country Cable Systems in Valparaiso and he also provided transport service for the Amish.
He and his wife were foster parents, raising over 150 foster children.
Paul enjoyed woodworking and blacksmithing. He was very good at making homemade knives and was a good mechanic.
Surviving are five daughters, Shawn (David) Ritchie of Ellijay, Georgia, Laura (Rick) Freeman of Macy, Pauletta Rupert of Marysville, Tennessee, Melanie McKean of Waterloo, and Rebecca (Mike) Miller of Howe; four sons, Daniel (Marie) Rupert of Jackson, Michigan, Robert Rupert of Wolcottville, Sean (Kim) Rupert of Topeka, and Michael (Brittney) Rupert of Rome City; a daughter-in-law, Andrea Rupert of Dahlonega, Georgia; 28 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Waldron of Kendallville and Carolyn Latta of Kendallville; and two brothers, Keith (Peggy) Rupert of Albion and Greg (Deena) Rupert of Albion.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Rupert; a sister, Jane Fluke; and three brothers, Robert Rupert, Tom Rupert, and Ralph Rupert.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 28, 2020, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Christopher White officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.
Calling is Friday, November 27, 2020, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to the family for funeral expenses.
