Calling: Sunday, March 17, 2013 - 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Monday *************************************************************** Paul R. Caldwell went to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at home.
He was born on February 4, 1939, in LaGrange County to Rosa and Stewart Caldwell, Sr. He married Roselea Wilson on September 4, 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Rose and six children, Jeff (Dianna) Wilson of Wolcottville, Mark (Annie) Caldwell of Ligonier, Greg (Lori) Caldwell of Avilla, Teresa (Harlan) Arnold of St. Louis, Missouri, Teresa Pergrem of Avilla, and Kristina (Ken) Wisner of Kendallville; two brothers, Stewart "Squirty" (Linda) Caldwell of Wolcottville, and Dick (Sherry) Caldwell of Fort Wayne; six sisters, Helen (James) Thomas of Wolcottville, Jeanie (Jerry) Crawford of Sturgis, Charry (Ron) Levitz of Wolcottville, Carol Zimmerman of Wolcottville, Rosie (Gary) Walchle of Howe, and Janie (Jeff) Freed of Albion.
He leaves 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois; his parents; a brother, David Caldwell; and two sisters, Goldie Ley and Kathy Gose.
He was a farmer and worked 35 years in highway construction, retiring at age 65.
Paul was an expert fisherman and knew the hot spots in local lakes and lakes throughout the state. Through the years, he has fished with many people, including Bobby Knight. He greatly enjoyed saving up his fish and frying them for a family and community fish fry that he hosted for many, many years.
He was an avid IU fan, and loved having a big garden. He also enjoyed working part time with his sister at Strawser Auctions. Paul knew no stranger, as he enjoyed meeting and talking with people.
Paul was a wonderful family man and truly loved his family. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 18, 2013, at 2 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Rev. Carldean Merrifield officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.
Casketbearers will be Jon Haines, Jarrod Haines, Kari Harris, Dustin Woods, Shawn Caldwell, Justin Arnold, and Brandon Caldwell.
Calling is Sunday, March 17, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Monday.
