Obituary

Patty LaVonne Pierce, 82, of Kendallville died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville.

She was a lifetime area resident, having lived in Rome City from 1966 to 1979 and in Kendallville since 1979.

She had worked at Essex Wire in Topeka and Hamilton Standard in Auburn.

She was born October 27, 1933, in Ashley to Ray Wilbur and Hilda Mae (Sherwood) Baird.

On August 20, 1949, in Wolcottville she married John Theodore Pierce, Sr. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1983.

Surviving are a daughter, Janet (Ron) Farmer of Auburn; a son, John (Gayle "Twink") Pierce, Jr. of Rome City; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Billy Baird of Ligonier, Larry Baird of Hicksville, Ohio, and Jack Baird of Topeka.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ann Pierce; a son, Steven Edward Pierce; two grandchildren, Nicole Pierce and Steven Pierce, Jr.; two sisters, Evelyn Payton and Tarena Longsworth; and six brothers, Wilbur Baird, Dallas Baird, Merlyn Baird, Gary Baird, Lyle Baird, and Donald Baird.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 19, 2016, at 2 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, 222 South State Street, Kendallville. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.

Calling is Thursday, May 19, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the Orange Township Helping Hands Food Pantry.
