Service: Sunday, May 19, 2013 - 1:30 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel

Calling: Saturday, May 18, 2013 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Sunday ***************************************************************** Patricia Elizabeth "Pat" Hammel, 79, of Kendallville passed on to be with her husband and loving Jesus Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

She was a lifetime area resident, and was loved by many.

She worked for Christianson's Jewelry Store in Kendallville for many years. She also worked for Holabird Manufacturing in Kendallville, was a waitress, and retired from Flint & Walling in Kendallville.

Mrs. Hammel was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville for over 60 years .

Pat enjoyed making and selling crafts, and travelled to many craft shows in the area. She looked forward to hunting mushrooms in the spring and going on many family camping trips. She enjoyed area festivals, especially the Apple Festival. Pat loved music and was a gifted singer. Christmas was her favorite holiday, as she enjoyed being 'Santa' to others. Pat dearly enjoyed her friends at Emmy's Hair Emporium in Kendallville. And, she adored her daughters and grandchildren.

She was born May 8, 1934, in Kendallville to Vernon C. and Faye G. (Greenwalt) McClellan. On September 3, 1949, in Kendallville she married Richard Lee Hammel, who was the love of her life and soul mate. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2012.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Amy Faye and Roy Heinke of Bremen and Tricia Beth Hammel of Kendallville; two grandchildren, Gavin Heinke of Bremen and Aaron (Jessica) Heinke of Bremen; two great grandchildren, Ian Heinke and Hannah Heinke; many "Nana" kids; and two sisters, Rita Rose of Kendallville and Lorraine Allen of Noblesville.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy McClellan and Donna McClellan; and three brothers, Leland McClellan, Marvin McClellan, and Max McClellan.

Funeral services will be Sunday, May 19, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. Dr. Robert Shriner of St. John Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.

Calling is Saturday, May 18, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to the services on Sunday.

Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church, 301 South Oak Street, Kendallville, Indiana, 46755, or to the V.A. Northern Indiana Health Care System, 2121 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46805.
