Nova Charlene (George) Smith, 85, of Kendallville, Indiana, and formerly of Kansas died Monday, October 2, 2023, at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville.

She was born May 15, 1938, in Union Town, Kansas, to Mitchell and Delta (Holt) George.

Mrs. Smith was professional seamstress, making Pendleton coats. She also worked at the Mound City, Kansas, courthouse as a custodian.

Nova loved flowers and gardening. At one time she owned a greenhouse and sold flowers and plants.

Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl Ann Bradley of Oklahoma; two sons, Randal Lee (Janet) Leonard of Pensacola, Florida, and Dewayne (Penny) Leonard of Kendallville; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry D. Smith; a sister; and two brothers.

There will be no visitation or services.

Her family will take her back to Kansas to celebrate her life.
