Obituary

Norma E. (Hayward) Shultz, 93, of Kendallville and formerly of Wolcottville died Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 12 p.m. in her residence at The Chandler Place, Kendallville.

She was born March 13, 1924, in Fort Wayne to Earl and Lula (Forst) Hayward and grew up in the Mt. Pisgah and Kendallville area. She graduated from Kendallville High School.

On December 18, 1965, in Wolcottville she married Homer I. Shultz. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2011.

Mrs. Shultz, and her husband operated a family business, the Wolcottville Grain Company in Wolcottville for many years. Prior to that she was a bookkeeper for Steckley's Mill in Kendallville for 23 years.

She was a member of the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church, Professional Business Women's Association of Kendallville, and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

When they were first married, Norma and her husband enjoyed traveling all over the country in his plane.

Norma loved being outside raking leaves, shoveling snow, or just enjoying the sunshine.

Surviving are, Sheryl Skinner of Wolcottville; sister-in-law, Miriam Shultz of Wolcottville; and two brothers-in-law, Walter Ibbotson of Lakewood, Colorado, and Daniel Troyer of LaGrange.

She was very close to her brother, Donald Hayward, until he died in a plane crash during World War II.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 1, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. David Mathews of Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Lake Bethel Cemetery near LaGrange.

Pallbearers will be Mark Shultz, Gale Shultz, Rex Shultz, Andy Green, Jeremy Green, and Jim Clugston.

Calling is Sunday, April 30, 2017, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church.
