Norma Lovely, 88, of Avilla went to be with Jesus on Friday, June 25, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. in Parkview Noble Hospital, Kendallville with her family at ther side.

Mrs. Lovely had lived in the area since 1959, coming from Kentucky. She was a homemaker. She had also worked at Sacred Heart Home, No-Sag, and also cared for people in their homes.

She was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Kendallville. She enjoyed making quilts and crafting. Norma loved her kids and grandkids...they were the joy of her life.

She was born June 30, 1921, in Hueysville, Kentucky, to Benjamin and Burlie (Coburn) Shepherd, and was the granddaughter of A.J. and Margaret Shepherd. She married William "Bill" Lovely. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1988.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Pastor Zaundra and Pastor Carter Hicks of LaGrange, Lynda and Dave Butler of Piketon, Ohio, and Kaye and Robert Fisher of Fort Wayne; two sons, Wade J. Lovely and his significant other Rebecca Walker of Wolcottville and Duane E. Lovely of Avilla; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Faye Shepherd of Hueysville, Kentucky; a brother, Alex Shepherd of Kendallville; a sister-in-law, Vada Shepherd of Kendallville; and a brother-in-law, John Reed of Hueysville, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Timothy Ray Lovely, who passed away August 29, 2002; two grandsons, Delbert L. Cobbs, Jr., and Keith Allen Combs; three brothers, Owen Shepherd, Coy Shepherd, and Lloyd "Claude" Shepherd; and two sisters, Phyllis Reed and Tilly Stevens.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Pastor Zaundra Hicks officiating. Burial will be Thursday, July 1, 2010, at 10 a.m. in Shepherd Cemetery at Shepherd Village on Route 2029, Hueysville, Kentucky.

Calling is Monday, June 28, 2010, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Parkview Home Health and Hospice or Gospel Lighthouse Church.
