Obituary

Nevelene Blankenship, 73, of Wolcottville died Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at 6 a.m. in her residence with her family at her side.

She was born January 31, 1944, in Teaberry, Kentucky to Jay Lee and Annie (Hall) Newsome.

On December 23, 1961, in Pikeville, Kentucky, she married Eddie Blankenship. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2017.

Mrs. Blankenship moved to this area in 1961, coming from Kentucky.

She retired from HRO in Wolcottville.

Nevelene enjoyed her family.

Surviving are a daughter, Patty Duty of Wolcottville; a son, Larry (Luckie Lackey) Blankenship of LaGrange; five grandchildren, Keith (Karen) Blankenship, Candace (Derek) Gayheart, Zack Wolf, Tabatha (Lee Prater) Parker, and JT Duty; 12 great-grandchildren, Terance, Lydia, Norman, Cameron, Allyssa, Zoe, Lucas, Angel, Greysen, Amelia, Gavin, and Lane; three sisters, Ruthie (Harvey) Tuttle of LaGrange, Charlene (Carlos) Hoover of Warsaw, and Emma Grace Emery of Kentucky; two brothers, Clyde (June) Newsome of Wolcottville and Klinon (Ruby) Newsome of Kentucky; and a sister-in-law, Lois Newsome of Kentucky.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters and brothers-in law, Phylistene (Charlie) Mitchell and Madeline (Kinnel) Mitchell; a brother, Arnold Newsome; and a sister-in-law, Margery Adams Newsome.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 21, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Elder Harvey Tuttle and Elder Morris Wicker of Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodruff Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be JT Duty, Gary Newsome, Zack Wolf, and Cameron Zervos. Active pallbearers will be Travis Blankenship, Keith Blankenship, Derek Gayheart, Lee Prater, Terance Blankenship, Eugene Newsome, and Jason Newsome.

Calling is Thursday, July 20, 2017, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home where there will be an evening service at 7 p.m. Calling will also be one hour prior to the service on Friday.
