Obituary

Neil C. Markle, 79, of Adams Lake and formerly of Kendallville died Monday, July 5, 2010, in Otterbein Cridersville Retirement Care Center, near Lima, Ohio.

Mr. Markle was the owner and operator of Cline Bros. Lumber Company in Kendallville until 1988. He also owned and operated the Wolcottville Lumber Company.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church, and was a past president of the Kendallville Rotary Club. He was also a member of the Kendallville Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 86, and a former member of the Kendallville Jaycees.

He was born March 1, 1931, in Andrews to John and Gertrude (Cline) Markle

Surviving are two sons, Tom Markle of Fort Wayne and David Markle of Japan; five grandchildren, Lindsay Markle of Fort Wayne, Andrew Markle of Fort Wayne, Michelle Markle of Fort Wayne, Adam Markle of Japan and Elisha Markle of Japan; and a sister, Jean Wright of Lima, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Markle and his mother, Gertrude Brinkmeyer.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Rev. Frederick Cain of the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church officiating. Private burial will be in Lake View Cemetery following the service.

Calling is Monday, July 12, 2010, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church, Wolcottville.
