Nedra, daughter of George and Pauline North, was born July 6, 1911, on a farm in LaGrange County. She graduated from high school in South Milford. On June 18, 1933, she married Elmer Seagly, her best friend since grade school.
The Seagly's came to Kendallville in 1935 and, along with Everett Cook, established several businesses including Seagly's Philgas LP Service and Seagly's Hardware and Gift Shop on Main Street.
Nedra's life exemplified her love for God and her family. She was a Sunday School teacher and held many offices at Faith United Methodist Church.
Her family and friends will remember her for her laughter, zest for living, generosity, and joy. Even into her 90's, she was hosting tea parties and sleepovers for her great-grandchildren.
She modeled motherhood as the noblest career to three generations.
Nedra was a woman who lived simply, loved deeply, and walked humbly with God.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Bill) Strutz, Bismarck, ND; three grandchildren: Heidi (Brad) Mitchell, Liberty Township, OH; Colin (Lisa) Strutz, Monument, CO; Nat Paul (Becky) Strutz, Bismarck, ND; eight great-grandchildren: Robert Mitchell, Nashville, TN, Tovey and Andrew Forbes, Columbia, SC, Rachael Mitchell, Liberty Township, OH; Caitlin, Ashton, and Landon Strutz, Monument, CO; and Alex and Ella, Strutz, Bismarck, ND; her brother, Jack (Betty) North, Wolcottville, IN; and many nieces and nephews. Nedra was preceded in death by her husband Elmer, her parents, and two sisters, Lucille Cook and Naomi Trowbridge.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 14, at Faith United Methodist Church, 411 East Harding Street in Kendallville.
Pallbearers will be Glen Cook, Wayne Cook, Bob Feller, Jim Robke, Donnie Wolford, Mike North, and J.R. Young.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.
Because Nedra had a great love for children, memorials may be given to Faith United Methodist Church, Kendallville or Shiloh Christian School, Bismarck, North Dakota.
