Obituary

Nancy J. Wappes, 67, of Rome City died Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at 10:42 p.m. in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

She had lived at Sylvan Lake for 28 years.

She graduated from Churubusco High School.

Nancy retired as a legal assistant with Baker & Daniels Law Firm in Fort Wayne.

She was a member of Green Center United Methodist Church.

Nancy was dearly loved by her family and friends. She treasured the time she spent with them.

She was born October 10, 1949, in Green Center to Lee and Minnie (Kopp) Renkenberger.

On January 23, 1982, she married John A. Wappes. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2016.

Surviving are a daughter, Michelle (Dennis Phelps) Rodriguez of Fort Wayne; a son, Tim (Elizabeth) Wappes of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bonnie Earnhart of Avilla, Suzanne (Sam) Harlan of Albion, and Carol (Roger) Allman of Churubusco; two brothers, Tom (Lois) Renkenberger of Albion and Jim (Rosalie) Renkenberger of St. Joe; many nieces and nephews; and two cats, Princess and Queenie.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Corinne Boruff-Stucker of the Churubusco United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.

Calling is Friday, February 24, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Saturday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials are to the Humane Society of Noble County or to Green Center United Methodist Church.
