Nancy L. Berkey, 74, of Kendallville, Indiana died Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn.

She was born May 21, 1949, in Owosso, Michigan to Melvin and Jean (Hawley) Neumann.

On June 7, 1969, she married Michael A. Berkey. He preceded her in death on October 24, 2023.

Nancy had worked as a CNA at Byron Health Center in Fort Wayne, Sacred Heart Nursing Home in Avilla, Kendallville Manor Nursing Home and Hickory Creek Nursing Home both in Kendallville.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville.

Nancy enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, and helping others. She loved her pets. She was a wonderful mom and grandma.

Surviving are three children, Michele (Mark) Martinez of Kendallville, Matt Berkey of Kendallville and Mark (Sara) Berkey of Duluth, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Krista (Frank) Hawks, Jordon (Alexia Wallen) Nartker, Julia Berkey, Nicholas Hacha, Lars Berkey, and Brianne Berkey; two great-grandchildren, Kruz Gibson and Karsynn Gibson; and a sister, Kathy (Forrest) Crissey of Chesaning, Michigan.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Terry Neumann.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
