Obituary

Nancy M. Chandler Bassett, 96, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Wolcottville died Tuesday, October 25, 2011, in Canterbury Nursing and Rehab in Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Chandler Bassett moved from Wolcottville to Fort Wayne in 1979. She was a homemaker and a seamstress.

She was born March 20, 1915, in Woodruff to Harold and Myrtle (Shipe) Eshelman. She married James F. Chandler, and he preceded her in death in June, 1979. She then married Dale Bassett, and he preceded her in death in August, 1994.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Linda F. and Thomas Bassett of Fort Wayne; two sons and daughters-in-law, James R. and Barbara Chandler of Fort Wayne and Robert L. and Susan Chandler of Knoxville, Tennessee; stepchildren, Sue Brill of Wolcottville and David (Jane) Bassett of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and nine step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Donnabelle Brill and Dorothy Blakley; and four brothers, Dale Eshelman, Paul Eshelman, Earnest Eshelman, and Noris Eshelman.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 29, 2011, at 12 noon in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville, with Rev. Carldean Merrifield officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Wolcottville.

Calling is from 10 a.m. until time of service on Saturday in the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer's Association.
