Obituary

Minnie Wicker Griffey, 73, of Wabash and formerly of Kendallville died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at 2:59 p.m. in her residence in Wabash.

Mrs. Griffey had worked as a nurses aide for 12 years at McCray Memorial Hospital in Kendallville.

She was born March 25, 1936, in Wheelwright, Kentucky, to Gradis and Edda (Berry) Yates. On October 9, 1953, she married Frank Wicker. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1988. She then married Moses Griffey on September 9, 1989. He survives in Wabash.

Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lena and Tim Huelsenbeck of Avilla and Pam and Tim Nance of Laketon; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Ken Wicker of Sarasota, Florida, Rick Wicker of Wabash, and James and Tammy Griffey of North Manchester; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Peggy Wicker of Kendallville; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Morris and Mary Wicker of Wolcottville and Jerry and Carolyn Wicker of Mousie, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Wicker in 1965; a son, Dennis Wicker in 1980; three sisters, Sandra Bley, Linda Wicker and Gwenna Gibson; and three brothers, Donald Yates, Lucious Gibson and Ed Gibson.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 8, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church in Lisbon. Officiating will be Junior Adkins, Russell Hicks and Estel Hamilton. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery near Rome City.

Calling will be Thursday, May 7, 2009, after 10 a.m. at the church, with an evening service at 6 p.m.
