Calling is Thursday, December 11, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. **************************************************************************************** Michael R. Schroeder, 35, of Fort Wayne died Monday, December 8, 2014, as the result of an auto accident on U.S. 6 in DeKalb County.

He had resided in Fort Wayne for ten years, coming from Kendallville.

Mr. Schroeder was employed by Courier in Kendallville. He attended Come2Go Ministries in Fort Wayne.

Mike dearly loved his family, especially his nieces. He also enjoyed church youth work, computers, and his dogs.

He was born September 4, 1979, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to Robert E. and Cynthia L. (Slater) Schroeder.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Cynthia L. "Cindy" and Raymond Clark of Kendallville; his father and stepmother, Robert E. "Bob" and Joan Schroeder of Brookfield, Wisconsin; a brother, Joseph (Kimberly) Schroeder of Kendallville; two nieces, Jessica Schroeder and Samantha Schroeder of Kendallville; maternal grandmother, Marilyn Slater of Kendallville; and an uncle Jeff (Dee) Slater of Kendallville.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jack Slater; paternal grandparents, Albert and Maralee Schroeder; an uncle, Jonah Slater; and an aunt Jennifer Krist.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 12, 2014, at 1 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. Phyllis Smoot of the Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church and Rev. Dr. Robert Shriner of St. John Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.
