Michael S. "Mike" Nichols, 65, of Kendallville died Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at 6:39 a.m. in St. Joe Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was a lifetime area resident, and a 1968 graduate of East Noble High School.
Mr. Nichols was a livestock dealer. He attended Faith United Methodist Church in Kendallville.
Mike participated in pony pulling for 50 years. He enjoyed watching East Noble sports, especially seeing his grandson play basketball. He also enjoyed watching his other grandson in the East Noble Band.
He was born May 24, 1950, in Kendallville to Elvert H. and Beverly R. (Smith) Nichols.
On June 25, 1972, in Kendallville he married Rebecca M. "Becky" Linville. She survives in Kendallville.
Also surviving are a son, Jon (Crystal) Nichols of Kendallville; two grandsons, Brandon Nichols and Kordell Nichols; a niece, Cindy Ordway of Hamilton; a nephew, Dennis Ordway of Lafayette; mother-in-law, Emma Sleesman of Kendallville; sister-in-law, Tricia (Jeff) McAllister of Kendallville; and two brothers-in-law, Mike Linville of Hillsdale, Michigan, and Robert Linville of Kendallville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Barbra Ordway.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 16, 2015, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Steve Bahrt of Faith United Methodist Church in Kendallville officiating. Burial will be in Sweet Cemetery.
Calling is Thursday, October 15, 2015, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Friday.
Preferred memorials are to the American Diabetes Association, East Noble Basketball Boosters, East Noble Band Boosters, or to Faith United Methodist Church.
