Obituary

Michael Lee Linville, 60, of Elwood died Monday, February 19, 2018, at his residence.

He was born February 23, 1957, in Kendallville to Robert and Emma (Trowbridge) Linville.

He graduated from East Noble High School and attended the School of Journalism at IPFW in Fort Wayne and the University of North Carolina. He also taught art at IPFW.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Kendallville.

Mr. Linville worked at several newspapers as a sports writer, including the Kendallville News-Sun, Albion New Era, and Auburn Star. His last employment was at the Elwood Call-Leader in Elwood.

Michael's first love was attending sporting events and reporting on them. He also was an excellent cartoon artist and created many political cartoons.

Surviving are a son, Jeremy (Joyce Spieth) Linville of New Haven; his mother, Emma Linville Sleesman of Kendallville; a brother, Robert Linville of Kendallville; two sisters, Rebecca (Linley) Clark of Kendallville and Patricia (Jeff) McAllister of Kendallville; two stepbrothers, Rick (Rhonda) Sleesman of Middletown, Ohio, and Randy (Robin) Sleesman of Fort Wayne; two stepsisters, Cindy (Jim) Fortman of Huntertown, and Kim (Paul) Hite of Huntington; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Linville on June 30, 1995, and his stepfather, Harold Sleesman on February 16, 2014.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 23, 2018, at 4 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. Steven Bahrt of Faith United Methodist Church in Kendallville officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.

Calling is Friday, February 23, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to East Noble High School for publication of their yearbook.
