Calling: Saturday, June 7, 2014 - 1 to 3 p.m. in the funeral home ************************************************************************************** Michael E. Christner, 62, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo following a short illness.

He had lived in Kalamazoo 25 years. Prior to that he lived in LaGrange and then Fort Wayne. He grew up on Messick Lake in LaGrange County and was a 1971 graduate of Westview High School.

Mr. Christner worked as a machinist.

Michael enjoyed swimming, water skiing, and boating in addition to chess, checkers, and other strategy games.

He was born November 15, 1951, in Bellevue, Ohio, to David L. and Lois L. (Heilman) Christner.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Candy and Dan Fairbanks of Lansing, Michigan, and Michelle and Jason Toller of Corbin, Kentucky; three grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, John and Trudy Christner of Noblesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Betty Lee Christner.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 7, 2014, at 3 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville. Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.

Calling is Saturday, June 7, 2014, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
