Mary Jo Devine, 87, of Rome City died Monday, December 18, 2017, at 6:20 p.m. in Chandler Place, Kendallville.
She was born January 18, 1930, in Wabash to Edgar D. and Ada (Unger) Alexander.
On October 27, 1948, in Wabash she married James Philip "Phil" Devine. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2017.
Mrs. Devine had worked at JC Penney in Kendallville, the Corner Store in Kendallville, Lakeland Title in Wolcottville, and part-time at Anatomy of a Flower in Wolcottville and the Rome City Golf Club.
She was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Rome City, Rome City American Legion Post 381 Auxiliary, and Kendallville VFW Post 2749 Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sons, Alex Jay Devine of Wolcottville and Timothy Lee (Cindy) Devine of LaGrange; three grandchildren, Dustin Devine, Nicole (Eric) Miller, and Tiffany Devine; and four great-grandchildren, Kinsley Miller, Brantley Miller, Makayla Devine, and Courtlyn Devine.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Debra Devine Glass and Rob Glass; two sisters, Shirley Ann Alexander and Cornelia "Connie" Drook; and two brothers, Darwin J. Alexander and Ramon L. Alexander.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 22, 2017, at 1 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Father Bernard Ramenaden of St. Gaspar Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City at a later date.
Calling is Friday, December 22, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
