Martin Joel Kretzmann, 57, of Kendallville died Tuesday morning, May 3, 2011, in his residence.
Mr. Kretzmann was currently employed by St. John Lutheran Church. He received his PhD from the University of Denver. He was a Professor of Sociology while in Colorado.
He resided in this area for ten years, coming from Colorado. He was a member and Trustee of St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville.
He was born October 30, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Reverend Gerhard and Elizabeth (Pfaffman) Kretzmann.
Surviving are his wife, Kim Callihan-Kretzmann of Kendallville; two stepdaughters, Kris (Rob) Dodley of Columbus, Ohio and Wendy Hunt of Canal Fulton, Ohio; three grandchildren; a sister, Ann (Steven) Hansen of Forsyth, Missouri; three brothers, Walter Kretzmann of Marshalltown, Iowa, Eric (Kris) Kretzmann of Mansfield, Ohio, and Kurt (Judi) Kretzmann of Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 7, 2011, at 11 a.m. in St. John Lutheran Church, 301 South Oak Street, Kendallville, with Rev. Paul B. Griebel and Rev. Dr. Robert Shriner officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.
Calling is from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church.
